There is no such thing as "an empty calorie". There are only calories. If you ask 100 people what a calorie is, 99 of them won't know. A calorie is a unit of energy. It is the energy needed to heat up 1 gram of water by 1 degree. Body needs calories to burn fat. At rest, the average body will burn off about 1200 calories a day. So the goal is to control your eating. There is a difference between good calories and bad calories. Good calories would come in healthy foods and bad calories would come in fast food or junk food. I am a certified national trainer and ex pro hockey player. I was once training for the olympics in javelin but got an injury. I know what I am talking about. If you want to lose weight, there is no "secret pill or diet" in existence. Who knows, maybe one day, but not today. Here it is. Follow this plan and I guarantee you lose weight and keep it off in a healthy way. Eat less than 6 ounces of food for a women and less than 8 ounces of food for a man….per meal. Eat your breakfast at 8 am. Eat a half of cup of fruit at 1030. Eat your 6 ounce lunch at noon. Eat 1/4 cup of mixed nuts at 230, then eat 6 ounces or less at 530 or 600pm. Drink lots of water…..8 cups a day. You can have a tangerine or apple at 8 pm before bed time. All your meals should contain healthy foods. For a list of healthy foods, just google it. Walk for 20 to 30 minutes a day. That is your plan. That is the secret. Do it.
