I am reading this book, quite interesting. There is no question that with glyphosate, artificial flavors and msg (now allowed to be labeled as "natural flavors" when it is anything but), preservatives, fillers and stabilizers, antibiotics and cannibalism in food animals, etc, there is no question there is an all out assault happening on humanity through destabilizing our gut physiology, which is the main part of our immune system and mental/emotional wellbeing. I don't agree with him about gluten, however. Something is really going on there, and have seen that with myself and many of my clients. I have IBS and several months ago also developed severe cholecystitis, which is gall bladder inflammation, even as a low fat vegan. I also had extremely severe asthma. I did occasionally have dairy primarily as ice cream once or twice a month. When I stopped all oats, wheat, soy, peanuts, corn and ALL dairy, my symptoms cleared up completely. Gluten is really horrible for me, and I'm learning that celiac disease is way more prevalent than currently thought, especially as 85% of tests are false negatives when looking for it. Also, I disagree with his position that some patients need to be treated with psychotropic meds, especially as a long term symptom management strategy, but the microbiome conversation is fascinating.

I am fascinated by this topic, and since going WFPB so many stomach and health issues have gone away! I wish everyone would give it a fair trial and see the changes. Since adding fermented foods to my diet, I have noticed further benefits, especially related to mood and digestion. How could something so sour be so sweet to me and bring so much joy when I used to hate the taste, now I crave it! Thanks for having such cool guests! Hugs!
